As excitement builds for the upcoming 2025 Christmas Special, readers are invited to journey back to the dramatic events that closed out Season 45. Beginning December 3rd, we’re proud to present the re-release of The Last Doctor – Part One — newly prepared for fans old and new.
This gripping opening chapter sets the stage for the Doctor’s most existential battle yet.
Plot Synopsis
Something is rotten in the state of Gallifrey.
The Time Lords, desperate and divided, are on the brink of forging an alliance with the Preservers — a sinister race from a higher plane of existence whose vast knowledge of the multiverse comes at a terrible cost. Their condition for cooperation is unthinkable: the complete removal of the Doctor from the timelines, erasing centuries of his heroism.
Among the Council stands one of the plan’s most fervent supporters: the Waiter, a radical young Time Lord with a dangerous vision of Gallifrey’s future.
Meanwhile on Earth, the date is 23 November 2963, and a mysterious boy presides over a strangely harmonious empire — patiently awaiting the Doctor’s arrival.
But the Doctor has problems of his own. Fleeing from his own people and racing against destiny, he discovers that time and space are contracting. Worse still, new and unwelcome memories begin to overwrite his last three regenerations: each of those Doctors lured out of their rightful place in the continuum and ruthlessly assassinated. This looming paradox threatens to erase the present Doctor before he ever comes into existence.
As his own past dissolves, the Doctor finally grasps the truth behind the conspiracy — a threat greater than any enemy he has faced: his own future, reaching back to end his adventures once and for all.
