About TDWP

Its 1998 and several members of TASC (Telefantasy Appreciation Society of Canada) are sitting around talking about DOCTOR WHO.  They talk amongst themselves asking; What if Doctor Who had never been cancelled in 1989? What if the seventh Doctor hadn't regenerated into Paul McGann? What if the series was still in production?  What would we do if we produced the series?  The answers that came up were quite interesting and it was at this point these same members decided to launch their own fictional version of the television series.  THE DOCTOR WHO PROJECT (TDWP) was born.

The first collection of adventures were published in 1999 under the banner of Season 27.  This collection, which would be known as the Season 27 Omnibus, featured eight new original adventures in time and space.  The first two stories featured Sylvester McCoy’s seventh Doctor.  Mid-way through story 2, in a battle with the evil Time Lord known as the Master, the seventh Doctor plunged to his death, regenerating into the eighth Doctor as played by fictitious British stage actor Jeremy Banks-Walker, who would play the part for the next seven seasons.

The eighth Doctor was initially accompanied in his travels by former British secret agent Tamara Scott but in Season 29, the two time travelers were joined by Time Lady Graekatziasa'asterus, (or Grae for short), and together the threesome made up one of the longest serving teams in the programs history.

Every fan knows that companions come and go, and just like the television series, so did those in the TDWP universe. In the latter part of Season 32, the Doctor is briefly accompanied on his travels by Terran bio-scientist, Dr. Taryn Fisher.  Over the course of the following stories, Tamara, Grae and Taryn depart.  After their departure, the Doctor travels for a brief time solo, but in Season 33 he meets a new traveling companion in the form of Rachel "Silver" Silverstein, a fifteen-year-old American girl who practices Wicca.

Over the course of Season 33, the eighth Doctor’s tenure quickly comes to a shocking end causing him to once again regenerate.  Silver is left to face the future with a man she doesn’t even know.

Season 34 begins a new season of new adventures, but it will be a season of change for both the new ninth Doctor and Silver.  Come join us for the ride.

TDWP has always been about originality and remaining true to the spirit of the original television series. We have always strived to be innovative and original. As we published each new season of stories, the editors, and writers, improved at their craft. Editorial comments were made on each story asking for selected changes, and together the editor and writer drafted the best story possible. Every one of our writers is committed to their craft, producing stories of up to 40,000 words. As each season was published, the writers grew, and today we produce quality original fiction. Obviously we must be doing something right as we have been the recipients of no less than 6 MediaWest FANQ awards including: "Best Doctor Who Story (General)" three times, "Best Doctor Who Fanzine (General)" twice" and "Best Doctor Who Artist".

Our writers include some of Doctor Who fandom's best: Arnold T. Blumberg (Howe's Transcendental Toybox), Will Hadcroft (Anne Droyd and Century Lodge), Kyle Bastian (DRE Audios), Jodie van de Wetering (ABC Television), John Gordon (The Goddess & The Bull), Tim Jones, Duncan Johnson, and numerous others...
