JAN 17/24: CELEBRATING 25 YEARS |
This month marks THE DOCTOR WHO PROJECT's 25TH ANNIVERSARY.
Yes, you read that right.
It was way back in January 1999 that THE DOCTOR WHO PROJECT released its very first story, THE FINAL SUNSET by John Swogger, Misha Lauenstein & Bob Furnell. The story was initially only available to subscribers who were sent the story in Word format via email. Over the next seven weeks, subscribers received a further seven stories that made up the very first 'season' of original, fan written, Doctor Who stories. This was followed in March 1999 when a print edition bringing together all eight Season 27 stories in specially released omnibus edition.
Twenty-five years later The Doctor Who Project has released 190 stories over two ranges - the main range and Brief Encounters - and continues to release new stories.
2024 will also see the release of the main range's 150th story, in addition to consolidating TDWP as the longest continuously running fan produced fiction series in Doctor Who fandom. |
