THE STONE TAPE THEORY — PART ONE
Written by Mark Horrocks
Release Date: October 24, 2026

Season 47 gets underway with a suitably spooky adventure, arriving just in time for Halloween!

It's Halloween night, 2004, and the Doctor and Maggie arrive in Tamworth after the TARDIS detects a powerful temporal anomaly. Their investigations lead them to the historic Tamworth Castle, where the production team behind the live television programme Ghost: Haunted is preparing for its most ambitious broadcast yet.

What begins as a confrontation between sceptics, television personalities and self-proclaimed psychics soon takes a terrifying turn.

Doors slam without warning, long-dead warriors emerge from the castle's bloody past, and the boundary between history and the present begins to break down. The Doctor quickly realises that these are no ordinary hauntings. Somehow, the very stones of the castle have become entangled with memories of the past, replaying centuries of violence with deadly consequences.
At the centre of the mystery are two spectral women, one seemingly attempting to issue a warning, while the other is awakening in fury.

As the broadcast descends into chaos, psychic Dina Ancona becomes caught up in the increasingly dangerous phenomenon. But when Dina vanishes without a trace, the Doctor faces a disturbing question. It is no longer simply a matter of where she has gone, but when.
A chilling opening adventure that promises supernatural terror, historical mystery and a decidedly unusual explanation for things that go bump in the night!

THE STONE TAPE THEORY — PART TWO
Written by Mark Horrocks
Release Date: October 31, 2026

The Halloween horrors continue as Mark Horrocks brings his two-part adventure to a dramatic conclusion!

Tamworth Castle has become the centre of a temporal nightmare. Ghostly figures walk among the living, Viking warriors storm the grounds, and psychic medium Dina Ancona appears to exist in two places at once.

For the Doctor and Maggie, the situation is becoming increasingly desperate. Time itself is beginning to unravel, and the castle's terrifying history is spilling into the present.

Worse still, Dina has become the unwilling vessel of the mysterious and terrifying Lady in Black.

Deep beneath the castle lies a prisoner who has remained entombed for a thousand years, trapped between moments in time and projecting her suffering through the surrounding earth and stone. Every anguished cry threatens to unleash further destruction.

With the television crew fighting for survival and history itself beginning to fracture, the Doctor must discover the true identity of the so-called witch.

But there is a terrible dilemma. Freeing the prisoner may be the only way to save Dina, yet doing so could tear the very fabric of the universe apart!

AZRAEL
Written by Hamish Crawford
Release Date: November 7, 2026

The season's third instalment places the Doctor and Maggie's mysterious new companion firmly in the spotlight.

Only a few days have passed since the Doctor and Maggie discovered Azrael, and although their new friend appears perfectly amiable, her unusual genetic structure and complete loss of memory remain deeply troubling.

Determined to uncover the truth about her origins, the Doctor investigates a comet that is mysteriously phasing in and out of another dimension. Could this strange pocket reality be Azrael's original home?

Upon exploring the comet, the Doctor discovers a dimension-crossing spacecraft stranded on its surface, apparently with a lone survivor. Unfortunately, the wreck is also surrounded by some decidedly hungry flying creatures!

Back aboard the TARDIS, Maggie and Azrael rescue the apparent survivor, only to discover that their guest is not quite what she seems. Before long, the stranger attempts to hijack the Doctor's ship and abandon him on the dangerous comet.

As Maggie struggles to regain control of the TARDIS, the Doctor attempts to communicate with the strange creatures inhabiting this mysterious dimension. But with danger mounting and questions about Azrael's past remaining unanswered, another unsettling possibility emerges.

Can their newest travelling companion really be trusted?

Gann has experienced childhood, adolescence and adulthood, with each stage of his life marked by difficult choices and sacrifices. Like anyone undergoing significant changes, he could certainly benefit from a visit to a good Doctor!

On Merus, two communities, the Merusians and Anzoreans, have developed a longstanding relationship in which each depends upon the other. But the stability of this arrangement comes at a price, and the carefully maintained balance is beginning to collapse.

When the Doctor, Maggie and Azrael become involved with Larra Summers and her family, they discover the disturbing truth behind the systems that have kept Merusian society functioning for generations.

Larra's grandson, Gann, finds himself torn between the expectations of his society and a family he barely knows. Meanwhile, growing tensions between the communities threaten to destroy their fragile coexistence.

As old certainties disappear and conflict threatens both sides of the river, the Doctor must determine whether disaster can still be prevented. And for the Summers family, there is an equally important question. After generations of separation, is reconciliation finally possible?

About TDWP
The Doctor Who Project (aka TDWP) began life in late 1998 when several members of the then fan group TASC (Telefantasy Appreciation Society of Canada) were discussing the fact that Doctor Who was no longer on television. This group of fans joked about what the show would be like if they were in the producers chair and in charge of making the series. This was supposed to be just a bit of fun, but one of the members, Bob Furnell, asked “why couldn’t we do our own version of the series?” From there Bob explained he had discovered an online fiction series based on the recently cancelled series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”, where a group of fans had got together and wrote a fifth season of the series tying up all the loose ends from the previous season. Bob noted that a lot of these stories were quite good and if this idea worked for a group of “Lois & Clark” fans, why couldn’t it work for “Doctor Who”? This got everyone to thinking and they agreed that this might be the sort of project TASC might like to try out.

Four initial questions were asked…

  1. What if Doctor Who had never been cancelled in 1989?
  2. What if Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) hadn’t regenerated into the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann) in 1996?
  3. What if the series was still in production today?
  4. What would we do if we produced the series?

The answers that came from those four questions proved to be quite interesting, and it was at this point that the group decided to launch a fictional version of the television series. The Doctor Who Project was born. From there, Bob and fellow TASC member Misha Lauenstein laid down the initial guidelines for the fledgling new fiction series.

Over the next several weeks, the group (consisting of Bonnie Gale, Terry Baker, Pat Burt, and Jay Demetrick) along with Bob and Misha discussed ideas that would form the basis for this new fiction series.

Progress was slow and sadly the group couldn’t come to any sort of mutual agreement on the project, and as a result, Bob and Misha took matters into their own hands. Together Bob and Misha formulated that the first season of adventures would consist of 6 original stories penned by various Doctor Who fan writers. The stories would be published in Word format and would be emailed out to subscribers weekly over a period of six weeks. The series would use the Seventh Doctor, as played by Sylvester McCoy, for the series first two stories, after which the Seventh Doctor would regenerate into the projects very own Eighth Doctor who would be played by a fictional actor by the name of Jeremy Banks-Walker. The first story of the season would see the return of the Silurians along with the Seventh Doctor encountering former assistant Elizabeth Shaw, who would accompany the Doctor during for the first three stories. For the remainder of the season, writers were asked to create a one-off companion to be featured in their story; each character had the potential of eventually becoming the full-time companion of the Eighth Doctor. The first story would be published in January 1999.

The rest as they say is history.
