DEC 9/12: 3 SEASON 39 STORY SPOTS OPEN
Work continues apace on TDWPs Season 39 for 2013, but I thought I'd let you know that we've had two (2) story spots come open. If you're a writer, and would be interested in writing for The Doctor Who Project, we'd like to hear from you.

From the original request for season 39 stories, here's some details of what we're looking forĄ

It's been said numerous times over the years that Doctor Who has one of the most flexible formats on television. With a basic premise of a man from another planet that travels throughout all of time and space in a box that resembles a twentieth-century Police Public Phone Box, it can't get much simpler than that. One week the show can be a gothic horror, the next it can be a comedic satire, while the next it could be a base-under-siege story; the possibilities are endless. The series has fifty years of story-telling to celebrate and every adventure published since the series debut in 1963 has celebrated that brilliant format in their own special way.

With this in mind, The Doctor Who Project would like to invite you to join us in celebrating fifty years of Doctor Who in 2013. The Doctor Who Project will release seven new adventures that delve deep into the history of the television series; each story an all new and exciting adventure in their own right. [Editor Note: I should point out that the open spots encompass the season premiere and the fourth story of the season.]

We are accepting story proposals from writers who would like to celebrate the anniversary with us. The stories will be published on a monthly schedule. Each story will be a separate adventure that celebrates the best of Doctor Who - quirky stories, scary stories, adventure stories or straight up weird tales that engage and excite the reader.

The seven new adventures are to feature the TDWP Tenth Doctor and his current companions Val Rossi and Tom Brooker.

When submitting story proposalsĄ

Please feel free to be as detailed as possible. The more detailed a proposal, the more likely your story will be accepted for publication.
Proposals should be attached to an email in a MS Word or Rich Text Format document.
Proposals should include your full name and email contact.
Include a short paragraph telling us a little bit about yourself and your writing history. (It doesn't matter whether or not you've been published before.)
If this is the first time you are submitting a story proposal to us, please include one or two samples of your previously written work.

Please Note:

Do not submit a story idea featuring former companion(s) from the television series.
Be creative. Try to develop your own aliens, monsters, villains or foes.
Do not submit stories that have been previously published.
Do not use, or refer to any elements, continuity or creations from the Virgin or BBC novels, Doctor Who comic strips, the current BBC television series, the 1996 Doctor Who TV movie, the two 1960s Peter Cushing movies, or Big Finish audios. Any stories featuring any of these elements will be automatically rejected.
Any companions who may have died in the novels (e.g. Liz Shaw) are still alive. Any companion personality changes, (e.g. Ace in the Virgin novels), has not happened in the Doctor Who Project universe. That's not to say that these companions would not have changed in their time away from the Doctor, it's just that they should not have changed in the same way as in the novels/audios.

If you would like a copy of the full submission guidelines or have any questions, please email us at the email address below.

Deadline for story proposals is December 15, 2012.

Outlines can be sent to jigsawpublications(@)yahoo.ca.
